If you dream of singing but doubts and fears prevent it, it is time to encourage yourself.
I offer you tailored singing classes to free your voice, unfold your potential and feel joy and confidence when singing.
Why take singing classes?
1) Encourage yourself
Deciding to take a first class and encourage yourself to sing in front of another person can be the first step on the path to knowing, growing and accepting your voice. Experimenting and training in a safe space will allow you to gain confidence and enjoyment when singing, communicating and encouraging you to share your singing voice with other people if you wish.
2) Know your voice
When you sing you become a musical instrument. The singing voice requires to train new movements, sensations and habits.
Through the classes you will learn to know yourself and develop yourself as a singer. You will learn to perceive and organize your posture, breathing, articulation and what movements are the most efficient for your singing voice.
3) Develop your potential as a singer
Through various exercises you will learn new movements and experiment new sensations that you will attach to new concepts for your voice.
Through conscious repetition you will achieve a training effect that will imply more sound quality, greater extension of your vocal register (reaching higher and lower notes), more flexibility and being able to use all the possibilities of volume or dynamics without losing sound quality and in an effortless way.
4) You would like to sing effortlessly
If at the second song you already feel discomfort and your voice tires quickly, it is an indicator that your concepts and movements associated with singing are not efficient or are not organized in a way that favors vocal function.
From the first class we will work on elements that will relieve you in that sense. You will train your breathing, posture, body movements, articulation generating greater efficiency in your singing, being able to feel comfort and enjoyment without any effort.
5) Solve problems
If you feel that it is difficult for you to sing high or low notes, that your sound is muffled or very low, you would like to improve your tuning or you simply love to sing but do not like your voice. You can solve these problems through singing classes.
With exercises and training, you will become more aware and you will perceive the path clearer to achieve more freedom and richness in your voice, expand your range and achieve a precise tuning.
6) Have a guide
Today there is a lot of information and resources on the internet for those curious about the voice. But the process that takes place during a lesson is irreplaceable. Having a trained teacher to guide you, listen, provide constant feedback, containment and encouragement on your way is irreplaceable.
All this will help you feel confident, learning will be more agile and fluid, and you will be able to prevent bad habits that could injure your vocal cords.
7) Express yourself, lower your stress level, connect with yourself and breathe better
Singing brings many benefits: it is healing, generates psychophysical well-being, improves our mood, our breathing and posture and connects us with ourselves through self-perception. It can also help us process and transform negative emotions.
It is very usual that with the actual rhythm of life we suffer from stress, worries and contractures.
Work during class generates a tonic and flexible general state to favor phonation, which has the secondary effects of relieving tension, improving our mood and balancing ourselves.
What is a singing class like?
The individual singing class lasts one hour.
During the first part we work with body, respiratory, postural and vocal exercises. For you to observe and discover new ways of breathing and to organize your posture, articulation and resonance.
By repeating and training the exercises knowing the objective of each one, you will establish new circuits of movement associated with new concepts about your voice that will allow you to sing with less effort, more freedom, rich sound, confidence and security.
Each class is unique. We start from the acceptance of what appears here and now in your voice and general state. Each exercise is based on what I observe that it would be best to work on at that moment and I use questions to guide your perception and to help you discover and learn the most efficient movements for your singing voice.
During the second part of the class you will sing the songs that you like the most and motivate you and you will approach the song from both technical (such as breathing and articulation) and expressive and performance aspects.
We will investigate the text and the emotions it contains and you will explore how to appropriate the song in a personal and expressive way through proposals that include games, visualizations and the creation of characters among other tools.
Who are the classes for?
The classes are for all ages and are aimed to both beginners with no previous experience and experienced singers who want to refine and work on their singing voice.
The main thing to learn and move forward in the process is motivation and curiosity.
Motivation and perseverance end up generating equal or better results than "natural" talent or ease.
Classes can also be taught in English and Catalan. And they are both in person and online.
About me
I am a singing teacher, singer, songwriter, psychologist, and Alexander Technique teacher. I started taking singing classes 26 years ago. And I continued to do so without interruptions until I moved to Barcelona in 2018 and started taking classes in Germany with Professor Uwe Gotz.
Singing, composing and liberating myself through music has always been my dream.
And the tool to achieve it is perseverance.
I was never the gifted singer that everyone asks for one more.
But I felt that I wanted and needed to express myself through my voice and that the path of music was for me. It was difficult for me to reach the high notes and above all to feel that confidence in me and in my voice. I was constantly comparing myself to other singers, which caused me quite a bit of suffering.
My dream motivated me to work deeply on myself and my instrument to develop it. Through the Rabine Method or functional education of the voice I realized that the instrument is ourselves, our body, what we think and feel. And that this can be worked on and developed deeply if we decide to do so.
So I continued studying and training singing to find my voice, that free and flexible and I began to compose.
At the same time I did therapy, yoga, feldenkrais, fedora, clown, theater, musical comedy, dance and everything I could to find tools to get out of my internal prison, from the feeling of limitation and not being able.
I think the expression is simple: letting go, expanding and opening the spaces and channels for movement to circulate and that is what makes us good and allows us to enjoy ourselves as singers and listeners.
To achieve this we need to work on it and undo fears and obstacles. Realize that there is nothing to fear if we express ourselves freely, quite the opposite.
I finally found the Alexander Technique. A psychophysical reeducation technique that works in a very subtle way and allows us to become aware of our psychophysical habits, to avoid falling into them automatically and to choose a way of moving and being more expansive, light and free.
I did the three years of training and became a certified teacher of the technique. It is a constant, beautiful and liberating work that helped me a lot with my voice and playing the guitar effortlessly, to gain calm and security.
And also in the teaching activity to understand what happens with the students' habits and to be able to help them in that sense.
I have been teaching singing for 20 years. What I enjoy the most about teaching is accompanying processes where the confidence and joy of singing are settling and accompanying the discovery of novelty and freedom in the voice. See that you can more than you think and the expansion that happens gradually from the first moment.
For me, music, singing and playing is what polishes me as a human being, what nourishes me and generates well-being and happiness and fills my soul to feel that some of this also happens to my students.
These processes teach us patience and love that is the fuel to be able to sustain a learning despite the little steps backwards and the small or great frustrations that are inevitable in any process.
In classes I enjoy creating a safe and warm space where people can little by little overcome fears and doubts and trust in practice. Encourage to explore and rediscover their voices and themselves.
And I especially enjoy discovering and respecting the uniqueness of each person I work with. That is why it is so fun to teach singing lessons, each person and each class is unique and unrepeatable.
